Questions no-one ever asks...
... but that we like to answer anyway.
Even though we are doing this in a tongue-in-cheek way here, design is a serious matter for us: design, as we understand it, is a synthesis of skills from worlds of craft, architecture and te- chnology, alert observation and the freedom to ask questions. Simple, straightforward[br]or tedious?
Simple, straightforward and functional is not te- dious - more like genius.
We could also design this ourselves.
Of course - and the pro- blem is not even that you could do something wrong, but that you need to do it correctly. To this end, an outsider's point of view can sometimes be very helpful.
I'd like to have[br]a proposal free[br]of charge.
...in the sense of: 'less and more'!
But we would gladly get together with you for a free discussion of your design matter ;-)
Which[br]proposal should I decide on?
Ours. Because if you 'only' make a rational decision - this will be the same decision that everyone else has alrea- dy made.
Help, I need a super idea!
Very good! But being presented with a good idea does not mean that you will immediately take a liking to it. If something is new to you, you probably won't accept with it immediately, as you have nothing to com- pare it with.
How much does design cost?
Not having any design is sure to cost you more.
Is there[br]anything, that[br]has not been designed?
No! And as Raymond Loewy once said: 'Ugly things are hard to sell.'
Why should I work with Designculture?
Because we are con- vinced that good design needs to be innovative, necessary, honest, long-lasting, detailed, envi- ronmentally-friendly and reserved. Or can you think of anything else?
Design only as an end in itself?
When design is reduced to a lifestyle term, it won't even manage to be an end in itself. Quality design means reduction, ideas, whit, charm and courage.
What does 'designculture' mean?
Living out design as a matter of course: concen- trating on the basics, the simple things, keeping the functions of things in the foreground and combining them with good form. If something is to have any meaning, it needs to introduce something new.
Communication without words?
If the form is right, it could work.
Can this really be implemented?
Yes! Many problems only arise from a lack of cooperation between designer and technician. Once the forms and op- tions of a collaboration have been fully explored and developed, you can change the world.
Is design a form of art?
If it is done properly, it is actually a form of art that makes itself useful.
Is it not hard[br]work to take all the aspects into account?
It is precisely this variety that makes design so fas- cinating. An experienced designer can be recognised by his ability to play between disciplines and to com- bine details from different areas.
Can the[br]designer do whatever he likes?
It is his absolute duty to do much more than that!
Why is this detail so important?
Perhaps because this is precisely where the soul is located?
Why do you always wait for the 'unique'.
In order to track down the 'unique', you have to be prepared for the unexpec- ted!
Is your range[br]of possibilities getting smaller?
Then this would be the right time to change lo- cation and to consider a new approach - and to call us.
Why does everything centre on design?
That's the wrong ques- tion: everything should centre on the content.
Low-maintenance or eccentric?
Eccentric generates the imbalance that is needed as a driving force for new ideas.
But I don't like that idea at all!
A trend-setter does the opposite of what is 'in'. Create something un- fashionable, some- thing outdated, some- thing wrong!
Why is there[br]such a thing as bad design?
Because the contractor needs to have the cou- rage to go beyond their selfimposed confines. Or because your desig- ner simply was not good enough?
Do ideas come from nowhere?
Jean-Luc Godard said: 'It does not matter where you take things from; what is important is where to take them to.' ...but only look for things that touch your soul, and then your idea will be authentic.
Could I also be a good designer?
This is not for us to judge, but outstanding ideas come from people who have realised that there is a value in being different and who know that well-known ideas quickly become irrele- vant. If this applies to you, then you should get in touch.
Is there always[br]a solution for everything?
Yes.
Do you need[br]to look at things in a business-like way?
That would be incredibly boring - we're really not very good at that at all.
